France on 15-Day Lockdown for Coronavirus

March 16, 2020, 10:40 PM

France has just announced that residents must stay at home and are on a two-week lockdown.

Residents are not allowed to leave home except for basic necessities like trips to buying groceries or seeking medical care, but family and social gatherings are barred.

French President Emmanuel Macron stated “All infractions will be punished,” and “there will be checks and controls in place... We are in a health war,” the French president said. “I’m appealing to your sense of responsibility and solidarity.”

The French government is working hard to ensure that businesses will not go bankrupt and is also providing assistance for healthcare workers such as childcare.
